The District Board of Commissioners is working with the City of Longview to receive Patriot Rail land for free from around Fishers Lane to just north of the trestle crossing the Cowlitz River. This land would be for District use as a utility corridor and a Rails To Trails pathway. This corridor is already encumbered by Beacon Hill with two water mains, two sewer force mains, and a sewer pump station. Ownership would give the District more control over the land for installing and maintaining District facilities. The trail would provide safer public pedestrian and bicycle access, especially along the West Side Hwy corridor. The Board would like to hear any additional Beacon Hill customer comments.
